The College of Engineering Chengannur was established in the year 1993, with a vision to create engineers having the drive, skill, and confidence to become the pioneers of tomorrow. The college was set up under the auspices of the Institute of Human Resources and Development (IHRD) and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU).

Dr. Jacob Thomas
Dr. Jacob Thomas V. graduated in Electronics Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Surat in 1988. He joined the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), Thiruvananthapuram as an Electronics Engineer in 1988. He obtained his Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras in 1993.
